Sony 3D murky pictures affect 2D movies in same theater
Why are 3D movies darker, with less color saturation than 2D? Because of the polarization filters, and the lower pixel count of the 3D images.
The Boston Globe discovered that Sony's projectors, not originally designed for 3D, have been retrofitted poorly, and the result is that some theaters dare not convert the projectors back for 2D film. Result: Murky images on 2D as well.
If you look back at the projection booth and see two light beams, stacked one above the other, choose another theater next time, because those Sony projectors rob you of a quality viewing experience.
