RUSSIA! RUSSIA! RUSSIA!
RUSSIA! RUSSIA! RUSSIA!
You may believe Trump is a Russian asset, you may not
But the facts remain facts. And they're worse than you think.
Soviet and Russian intelligence identified, groomed, and leveraged Trump as an asset
...starting all the way back in the 1980s.
A thread.
In 1987, Trump traveled to Moscow at the invitation of Soviet officials.
He stayed in the Lenin Suite, a hotel room notorious for KGB surveillance
After the trip, he took out full-page ads in U.S. newspapers criticizing NATO—echoing Soviet talking points
Careful, this might come up later (along with whatever happened in the Lenin Suite)
The KGB had been monitoring him for years. They saw Trump as an easily influenced asset.

Former KGB spy Yuri Shvets claims the Soviets cultivated Trump for decades
Look the dude up:
Shvets was an intelligence officer for the KGB’s First Chief Directorate, specializing in US intel
Later, he became a source for U.S. Intel
Trump was identified as a vain and ambitious businessman who could be easily flattered and manipulated to advance Russian interests
Sound accurate?
Shvets claims Trump was groomed for bigger things.

The CIA concluded that Russia interfered in the 2016 U.S. election to help Trump win.
They hacked and released DNC emails, and used social media disinformation to sway public opinion.
This was a direct attack on American democracy. And it would not be the last.
A bipartisan Senate report confirmed Russia's extensive interference in the 2016 election
The report detailed how Russia's Internet Research Agency used social media to sow discord and support Trump
This wasn't just meddling; it was a sophisticated influence operation.
It preyed on groups that manipulated the right and the left to create division and splinter votes in favor of Russia's candidate.

Reports revealed that Russia's Internet Research Agency launched a pro-Jill Stein social media campaign during the 2016 election
The goal? Divert votes from Hillary Clinton, aiding Trump's victory
This strategy exploited divisions within the left, highlighting the impact of third-party candidates
Watch Tankies meltdown in my threads if you need further proof.
Steve Bannon, former Trump strategist, discussed the "Bannon Line"
A threshold where third-party candidates siphon enough votes to impact election outcomes
Hm.
By promoting candidates like Jill Stein, the strategy aimed to reduce Democratic votes, benefiting Trump—in line with Russian efforts.

So when Trump took office both overt and covert relations remained
Many of the GOP seeming to fall in line with the Putin to Trump pipeline overnight
On July 4, America’s Independence Day, 8 Republican senators went to Moscow for secretive meetings with Russian officials
They returned with a letter from Trump to Putin, delivered days later.

At a press conference alongside Putin, Trump publicly sided with Russia over U.S. intelligence agencies on election interference
Trump and Putin met privately without aides or note-takers, accompanied only by a one Russian-provided interpreter
There were no U.S. personnel in attendance at the meeting
The meeting had been scheduled for 90 minutes but lasted two hours.
Even Trump’s own Director of National Intelligence was blindsided.
Senator and full-moon were-mop Rand Paul traveled to Russia just one month after Helsinki
He personally delivered a Trump-signed letter to Putin and invited Russian officials to Washington
We still don’t know what the contents of the letter are.
